It arrives tomorrow and I cannot wait!
I can hear you asking, "Why would I spend that much money to buy a machine that cuts out stencils?"
Well have you priced stencils lately? Small ones @ $5-$7 each and larger ones @ $14-$15 each. Plus postage! AND... they aren't even my own designs!
Not that I don't love a lot of the stencils out there... I have a TON of Crafter's Workshop stencils already... but really... you know you can look at a piece of art that used stencils and know immediately if it was a Dina Wakely or Julie Fei-Fan Balzer stencil... not that there is anything wrong with that but... I don't want anyone looking at my art and knowing whose stencils I used anymore! To me that takes a lot of the originality and creativity out of the work.
So for the price of the Cameo and some .007 thickness stencil mylar I can make 20 large stencils and I have already paid it off! And they will be my own designs or words or anything I want to make, no one else's!
Watch out art journal!
So would you like to sell me a bunch of your brand name stencils since I don't care if you can tell it's someone else's??
ReplyDeleteLOL Maybe after I have made a ton of my own so I don't miss them! haha
DeleteAnd you can make stuff for your sister too! I think it's a win for everyone! ;-) Hey, I have a roll of a few colours of vinyl that is supposed to go thru one of those deals (I was just going to cut out my own) and now I can have YOU do it for me :-)
ReplyDeleteSounds like a plan! Now it looks like I may need to drive up to see you instead of fly!
DeleteJust put all of the cool craft supplies and a small table in your trunk and you'll be good to go ... oh well maybe some clothes, snacks and water too ;-)
DeleteOk we will have to coordinate when you have time to PLAY then!
DeleteOh I see an art party in our near future!
ReplyDeleteOh yeah! I am hoping I can use the software on more than one computer so I can bring it with me!
DeleteI total "get" wanting to use my own stencils. I just hand cut them. But the machine looks fab! I'm happy for you.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sharon. I have tried cutting some of my own but I do such a terrible job of it. Plus I just do not have the patience or hand coordination to do a very good job of it. I think this will free me up a bit. Stay tuned for results! LOL
DeleteAnd cutting stencils is bad for our hands!
DeleteExactly!
DeleteI'm cruelly jealous. The Cameo looks amazing-- what doesn't it do?!
ReplyDeleteWell it doesn't cook or make the bed! LOL
DeleteI am having fun playing with it now... full report soon!
